About Legacy

Legacy operates within the UniGroup C.A.’s family of companies. Legacy is the entity that controls the collection and use of your information in relation to any personal information that we collect, use, store, or otherwise process about you on the Website or through our Services. We are responsible for ensuring that such processing complies with applicable data protection laws. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting the security of information collected, processed, used, and stored in any format when visiting our Website or otherwise interacting with our Services.

Relationship with United Van Lines

We provide logistics, relocation services and/or other related services (“Logistics and Relocation Services”), both under our own brand/authority and on behalf of United Van Lines LLC. Specifically, we are an independently owned local moving company that operates, sells, and provides a variety of our own Logistics and Relocation Services or related services, typically locally and/or intrastate, that are outside of our relationship with United Van Lines LLC and have absolutely nothing to do with United Van Lines LLC’s Logistics, Relocation Services or other services.

We also represent United Van Lines LLC and sell and/or provide United Van Lines LLC’s (typically interstate) Logistics and Relocation Services. When doing so, we are legally acting on behalf of United Van Lines LLC and are considered an “Agent” of United Van Lines LLC. For information we send to and/or receive from United Van Lines LLC and/or its related companies in connection with United Van Lines LLC’s Logistics and Relocation Services or business, the terms of United Van Lines LLC’s Privacy Policy and Data Security Policy shall apply. California Employee Privacy Notice

We provide California employees, job applicants, and contractors with a separate privacy notice at or before the point of collection that describes the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and other information required by the CCPA. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal information from you through your use of our Website or our Services as described in this Policy:

  • Identity data: Information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with a particular individual, including but not limited to real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, unique device or user ID, email address, telephone number.

  • Financial / Billing Data (Business Customers only): Billing contact information and payment-related information necessary to process invoices and payments (e.g., billing address, tax/VAT ID, bank/payment account details as applicable, invoice history, payment status, and transaction references).

  • Usage Data: tracking date and time stamps, content and pages you accessed on our Website, clicks, and other actions taken on the Website.

  • Marketing Data. Marketing preferences; and service communication preferences.

We collect most of the information directly from you via our Website. However, we may also collect information from the following categories of sources:

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies:

As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies (“ACDT”) to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

  • Details of your visits to our Website and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website

  • Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type

The information we collect automatically may include personal information. It helps us to improve our Website. We may use ACDT to:

  • Operate and secure the Website (load balancing, fraud/abuse detection, debugging).

  • Measure and improve performance and content (analytics, audience measurement).

  • Remember your preferences (e.g., language, cookie choices).

  • Personalize on-site experience (e.g., content layout, saved settings).

The technologies we use for this data collection may include:

  • Local storage & similar technologies: HTML5 local storage, session storage, and similar browser-based storage used for preferences and performance. (We do not use legacy Flash cookies.)

  • General Business and Operational Support. To assess and implement mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, bankruptcies, and other business transactions such as financings, and to administer our business, accounting, auditing, compliance, recordkeeping, and legal functions.

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties other than as described in this Policy unless we have your permission or are required or permitted to do so by law. We may share such information with our affiliates as necessary to carry out the purposes for which the information was supplied or collected. Similarly, third party contractors, consultants and/or vendors engaged by Legacy to provide services may have access to your personal information. These third parties will be subject to their own data protection requirements providing the same or greater level of security provided by Legacy and in most instances will also have entered into a written agreement with us which addresses access to and use of your personal information.

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Affiliates. Legacy may share your information with affiliates in the UniGroup family of companies to provide Services to you that you request and/or to administer any Services provided to you that Legacy agrees to undertake;

  • Vendors and Services Providers. We may disclose personal information we collect to our service providers, processors, and others who perform functions on our behalf. These may include, for example, IT service providers, help desk, payment processors, analytics providers, consultants, auditors, and legal counsel.

  • Compliance and Legal Obligations. We may disclose personal information to third parties to comply with our legal and compliance obligations and to respond to legal process. For example, we may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, and other lawful requests by regulators and law enforcement, including responding to national security or law enforcement disclosure requirements. This may include regulators, government entities, and law enforcement as required by law or legal process.

  • Security and Protection of Rights. We may disclose personal information where we believe it is necessary to protect the Services, our rights and property, or the rights, property and safety of others. If we, or our affiliates are, or may be acquired by, merged with, or invested in by another company, or if any of our assets are, or may be, transferred to another company, whether as part of a bankruptcy or insolvency proceeding or otherwise, we may transfer the information we have collected from you to the other company. This type of information does not identify you personally and may be shared with third-party partners, service providers, or the public for purposes such as improving our services, analyzing trends, or publishing research and reports.

  • Other Disclosures. We may disclose personal information in other ways not described above, but will notify you and, if necessary, obtain your consent.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction and subject to certain limitations, you may have the following rights with respect to the personal information we process about you:

  • Right to know. You may have the right to know about the categories and the specific personal information that we may collect, the purposes for collecting that personal information, the categories of third parties to whom we may disclose that personal information and whether we disclose personal information for business purposes or for commercial purposes that would be considered a “sale” or “share” of your information.

  • Right to data portability. You may have the right to obtain a copy of the personal information about you that’s being processed by us. To the extent it is technically feasible, we will provide that information to you in a usable and portable format Upon receipt of a valid and verifiable request from you, we shall disclose to you both the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting that personal information, the categories of third parties which whom we share that information. Your rights may be subject to certain limitations depending on the laws of your State.

  • Right to delete. You may have the right to request that we delete any personal information we have about you unless retention of that information is permitted or required under applicable law. If you request deletion of your personal information, we may deny your request or may retain certain elements of your personal information if it is necessary for us or our vendors to:

    • Complete the transaction or request for which the personal information was collected;

    • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for that activity;

    • Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;

    • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law;

    • To enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us.

    • Comply with a legal obligation.

    • Otherwise use the personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information.

  • Right to correct. You may have the right to request the correction of any personal information we maintain about you.

  • Right to withdraw consent for any processing where we have requested your consent.

Exercising Your Rights

To exercise your rights as set out above, please contact us using our contact details described in the “How to Contact Us” section, indicating the type of right you would like to exercise and that you are making the request under an applicable U.S. state data privacy law.

In order to process your deletion and/or access request, we are permitted by law to collect certain information about you to verify your identity. If, however, we cannot verify your identity from the information already maintained by us, we may request additional information from you, which shall only be used for the purposes of verifying your identity, and for security or fraud-prevention purposes, such as a passport or driver’s license.

Under the laws of your state, you may have the right to use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf if you provide the authorized agent written permission signed by you. We may also require that you verify (as consumer) verify your identity directly with us and confirm that you have provided the authorized agent permission to act on their behalf. We will make every effort to respond to your request within 45 days from when you contacted us. If you have a complex request, the law may permit us to take longer to respond. We will still contact you within 45 days from when you contacted us to let you know we need more time.

If we decline to take action on a request that you have submitted, we will inform you of our reasons for doing so, and provide instructions for how to appeal the decision. Depending on your state of residence you may have the right to appeal within a reasonable period of time after you have received our decision. If you have this appeal right, within 45-60 days, depending on the state, of our receipt of your appeal, we will inform you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response to the appeal, including a written explanation of the reasons for the decisions. If we deny your appeal, we will provide you with a method for contacting your state attorney general’s office to submit a complaint.

Right to non-discrimination.

You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us for the exercise of your privacy rights as set forth in this Policy.

No Sale/Sharing; No Targeted Advertising. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”)). Accordingly, we do not engage in “targeted advertising” as that term is commonly defined under other U.S. state privacy laws.

Security

We have implemented technical and organizational security measures in an effort to safeguard the personal information in our custody and control. Such measures include, for example, limiting access to personal information only to staff and authorized service providers on a need-to-know basis for the purposes described in this Policy, as well as other administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.

While we maintain reasonable safeguards, no security measure is perfect. We cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us over the Internet. Please do not send sensitive information to us by unencrypted email.

Data Retention

We retain each category of personal information for as long as reasonably necessary and proportionate to achieve the purposes described in this Policy—including providing services and support, analytics and improvement, communications, customization/personalization, marketing (where applicable), research and surveys, security and protection of rights, compliance and legal process, auditing/reporting/internal operations, and general business and operational support—and for longer where required or permitted by applicable law.

Retention criteria by category (we may delete, de-identify, or aggregate information sooner where feasible):

  • Identity Data: retained for the duration of the business relationship and thereafter for a period reasonably necessary for account administration, security, recordkeeping, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

  • Communications Data: retained for the period necessary to respond to and close your request/inquiry, then as needed for training/quality control, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements and policies.

  • Commercial Information: retained as needed to provide and document services, manage the business relationship, and satisfy accounting, tax, and audit requirements.

  • Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information: retained for a period reasonably necessary for security monitoring, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and analytics/improvement of the Website/Services; then deleted, de-identified, or aggregated where feasible.

  • Usage Data: retained for a period reasonably necessary for analytics, service improvement, customization/personalization, and security/protection of rights; then deleted, de-identified, or aggregated where feasible.

  • Marketing Data: retained until you change your preferences, opt out, or the data is no longer needed for marketing and campaign management.

  • Financial / Billing Data (Business Customers): retained for the period reasonably necessary to process billing and payments, maintain accurate business and financial records, and comply with legal, tax, and audit obligations.

Suppression List (Opt-Outs): If you opt out of marketing communications, we will retain only the minimum information necessary to record and honor your opt-out (e.g., identifier and preference status) indefinitely so that we can respect your choice. We use suppression-list information solely for that purpose unless you later opt back in to receive marketing communications.

We do not control and are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party websites. Our Website is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that personal has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information promptly. Application of United States Laws

The Website is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we may transfer the information, including your personal information, to the United States and process it there.
