The Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) has proposed requiring Electronic Logging Devices in all interstate commercial trucks to improve efficiency and accuracy for compliance with the safety rules governing the number of hours a driver can work.
Most drivers currently use a paper log book to record their daily hours and duty activities. This manual method leaves room for error and the possibility of driving over the allotted hours set by the D.O.T.
The new proposal is expected to leverage innovative technology that will improve safety, reduce paperwork and reduce hours of service violations.
Legacy takes this mission to increase safety very seriously and has started installing Electronic Logging Devices now — two years ahead of when the proposed new rules are expected to take effect. Legacy plans to continue installing many more Electronic Logging Devices in the coming months – all the early signs point to this being an extremely effective solution.
Safety on the road is the highest priority at Legacy.
